honest things answered

a few days ago i was awarded the honest scrap award and instead of sharing honest random things about myself i decided to let you all ask me questions that you wanted to know the answer to - that i would answer honestly.

here's what you asked along with my answers.

mandy asked: what’ is your favorite memory from your childhood?
to be honest, and i’ve really thought about this one - i don’t have one. i mean, there’s a few i recall fondly but wouldn’t necessarily call my favourite. like hanging out in my backyard as a young teenager with my first big (older) crush. oooooh jay was perfect in my eyes. it took me a long, long, long time to get over him. too long.

lindsb asked: if you could buy one item for your new place and spend any amount of money, what would it be and why?
oooh this one was hard! first i was going to say a farm table (my newest obsession) but with a keen eye i think i’ll be able to find one on craigs for a good price. then i was going to say my beloved saarinen table - but although it costs a pretty penny since the questions says i can spend any amount - i want to go bigger. so i finally settled on the perfect custom sofa. ahhhh, i can see it now. a great long, clean-lined, grey velvet sofa with 3 seat cushions AND 3 back cushions. nice and deep but not too deep. the back cushions notched out just so to fit perfectly around the arms. a medium height arm - perfect for resting my head on when i want to take a nap. oh, and down filled...a comfy sofa is a big deal to me so this is definitely what i would go with.

my favourite sofas

chelly (after much self-imposed pressure) asked: what do you hate most about blogging?
hmmm. this is tough. there isn’t really anything i hate about blogging. i do it because i enjoy it and enjoy the blog community - as soon as i stop liking it or find it feels like ‘a chore’ i’ll stop. oh! but one thing i don’t like is that i’m not able to visit (and comment on) all of the blogs i enjoy on a daily basis. that would just take waaaaaay too long. as a result there are a handful that i visit daily and all the rest i visit at least 2 or 3 times a week. so even if i’m not regularly commenting - know that i am reading!

tamstyles asked: what were you doing when you took your profile photo?

the photo in question

hahaha. i had just finished picking up a christmas gift in best buy and was in the parking lot with my little brother - i decided to just hold my camera up and take a quick not-quite photo knowing full well i would use it as my profile picture :)

ceecee asked: what are 3 things you would get right now if you were a rich girl?
ahhhhhh lets see! i’d buy my dream car (don’t know what kind!) cash. i’d buy a brownstone/victorian fixer upper and set aside a large budget for renovations (most of which i’d try to do on my own...i’m a diy’er). and third - i’d buy a ‘round the world airline ticket and hit the road!

magchunk asked: if every decor mag had to follow your guidelines, what new trend would you hand-pick for all of the western world to follow?
crap. this is tough. the style i’m into is doing pretty well in design-land right now so i’m not sure. how about a boycott against minimalism? like a headline saying ‘minimalism - it’s out!’ i mean, it’s such a cold look to me - not inviting at all and so difficult to get right. i’m all about having ‘stuff’ that tell who you are and your story.

bye bye bye!

thanks guys! this was fun :)
